Alghero International: Tim Gajser on pole

Gajser Alghero 26

The first round of the International of Italy gets underway today in Alghero, officially opening the pre-season race schedule on the road to the 2026 MXGP Motocross World Championship. One of the main talking points is the debut of Tim Gajser with Monster Energy Yamaha.

The Slovenian rider wasted no time making an impact, setting the fastest lap in qualifying on a heavily rutted circuit after several days of rain.

In MX2, qualifying was split into two groups. In Group 1, Sacha Coenen was in a class of his own, topping the timesheets by more than four seconds and also securing the best overall time. Group 2 was led by Janis Reisulis, with reigning World Champion Simon Längenfelder close behind in second.

Racing is set to begin from 12:00 (Local time).
