The International of Italy in Alghero officially launched the 2026 MXGP pre-season, under Lucas and Sacha Coenen dominance in their respective categories. On the Lazzaretto circuit in Sardinia, both brothers produced near-perfect performances to dominate the MXGP and MX2 podiums.

Next round will take place on February 8th in Mantova, with Jeffrey Herlings behind the gate making his Honda HRC debut.

MX1: Lucas Coenen in full control

Lucas Coenen was the standout rider, claiming victory in both motos (1–1). The Belgian moved into the lead early in each race and, once in front, controlled proceedings with authority and consistency, leaving no room for challenge.

Second overall went to Tim Gajser (5–2), who completed his first competitive outing with Yamaha, showing increased confidence and pace in the second moto. The final step on the podium was secured by Oriol Oliver (3–4), delivering an impressive result in his international 450 debut thanks to two solid and mistake-free rides.

MX2: Sacha Coenen unstoppable

In MX2, Sacha Coenen was equally dominant. The young Belgian swept both motos (1–1), combining raw speed, strong starts and race control. His second moto in particular underlined his form, as he broke away early and led comfortably to the checkered flag.

Simon Längenfelder finished second overall (3–2), while Ferruccio Zanchi completed the podium (2–6) after a promising performance in his Ducati debut, reinforcing the positive momentum of the Italian brand’s MX2 project.
