Adam Sterry wins the overall of the ADAC MX Masters for the first time on his career. Henry Jacobi and Max Nagl round off the overall podium. Nagl retains the lead in the standings by 16 points over Sterry.
Meanwhile, in the Youngster Cup, Spaniard Oriol Oliver took his first overall of the season after winning two out of three races of the weekend. Mike Gwerder and Edvards Bidzans roundad the podium, while Red Plate holder Cato Nickel was fourth overall. However, he still champioship lead.
Adam Sterry (UK/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) also wins the overall ranking of the ADAC MX Masters for the first time in Mölln after his race victory on Saturday. In front of numerous spectators, the Briton prevailed against Henry Jacobi (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) and Max Nagl (D/KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek) on a challenging track. Nagl continues to lead the championship, followed by Sterry and Jacobi.
In the first race on Saturday, class rookie Noah Ludwig (D/KTM Sarholz Racing Team) impressed with the Red Bull holeshot ahead of championship leader Nagl, who was on pole position after practice. Nagl went down on the first lap through his own fault, causing Sterry and Mathias Jorgensen (DK/Filten Racing) to slip into the first chasing positions. Jacobi and Tom Koch (D/KTM Kosak Racing Team) quickly pushed past the Dane. On the fourth lap, Ludwig gave in to pressure from his teammate Sterry and relinquished the lead. As a result, Sterry steadily increased his lead and clinched an unchallenged race win, the first of his career in the series. After a small mistake by Koch, Jacobi pulled away, closed the gap to Ludwig and overtook him at the beginning of the last quarter of the race. In the final laps of the race, Koch and Jordi Tixier (F/KMP Honda Racing powered by Krettek) also passed 18-year-old Ludwig, who only changed teams at the beginning of the week. Despite a defective clutch, Nagl still managed to move up to eighth place.
On Sunday in the second race, Nagl showed his usual strength and took a clear lead in front of Ludwig and Sterry after the Red Bull holeshot. In the second lap, Sterry and Jacobi relegated Ludwig to fourth place. At the middle of the race, Ludwig also fell behind Koch. After around twenty minutes, Nagl signaled problems with the rear wheel to his team and reduced his speed, which brought Jacobi closer. Koch also suddenly slowed down after working his way up to Sterry. While Koch ended the race prematurely with a lost shock absorber bolt, Nagl saved his lead with a few broken spokes in the rear wheel to the finish ahead of Jacobi, Sterry, Maximilian Spies (D/KTM Kosak Racing Team) and Ludwig.
In the third race, the Red Bull holeshot went to Jacobi, but Sterry took the lead in the first lap. Spies, Ludwig and Nagl followed, while Koch and Tixier came out of the first lap outside the top ten. In the seventh lap, Nagl had fought his way past Spies to third place and quickly closed the gap to Jacobi. The reigning ADAC MX Masters champion passed this three laps later and started chasing Sterry. Five laps before the end, the Briton gave the lead to Nagl, Koch took over fifth place from Nico Koch (D/Becker Racing). The positions did not change until the finish, Nagl won ahead of Sterry, Jacobi, Spies and Koch.
“Last season I struggled to get on the podium and now I’m at the top here. It wasn’t easy because the track is difficult and slippery, but I feel comfortable with such surface conditions. I had good starts all weekend and hardly made any mistakes. The overall victory is the result of a lot of hard work over the past few weeks and months that the team and I have put into the development of the bike,” Sterry said happily at the awards ceremony.
