Unfortunately, Thibault Benistant will not participate this weekend as he continues to recover from the Qualifying Race crash in the Czech Republic.
The Monster Energy Yamaha rider was run over during the start of Saturdays Qualifying Race of the MXGP of Loket. After that, he misses both motos of Sundays GP. One week later he tried to regroup for MXGP of Lommel but after a 14th in the Qualifying Race, he and the team decided to step aside for Sunday´s races.
“It wasn´t about the pain”, explained Benistant after Lommel “but mainly my vision. It`s weird but it felt like everything was going really fast. Like it was showing up very quickly and I didn´t have time to do what I wanted with the bike. It was dangerous.”
Before Loket, Benistant was the main rival of current Championship leader Andrea Adamo, but after missing four motos in a row he dropped to 5th. Now Adamo`s main rival in the standings is Benistant´s teammate Jago Geerts. The winner of the three last GPs is just 13 points behind the Italian.
