The Last Dance: Jeremy Martin will make Final Start at Spring Creek

Jeremy Martin’s brief comeback with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing is set to have a fitting and symbolic conclusion. While it might not be the storybook ending some hoped for, there’s still something special about how it will all wrap up.

When news broke about a month ago that Martin would rejoin the team with which he won two 250 Class AMA Pro Motocross Championships, fans envisioned a return to form—podiums, flashes of his trademark speed, maybe even a full-season run. Initially rumored to be on a three-race deal, there was speculation the comeback could extend beyond that.

However, after a crash at last weekend’s Hangtown National, Martin announced he will sit out this weekend’s Thunder Valley round. Just like that, the dream return appeared to be nearing its end.

But not quite.

Martin revealed he will line up one final time aboard the factory YZ250F at Spring Creek Raceway—his home track in Millville, Minnesota. Before signing this short-term deal with Star Racing, Martin had planned to race Millville as a privateer on a KX450, marking his farewell. Now, he’ll get to say goodbye in familiar colors, on the bike and with the team that defined much of his career.

Podium or not, that’s a pretty meaningful way to close the chapter.

“Unfortunately, after my crash in Moto 1 at Hangtown, I’ve decided to sit out Thunder Valley this coming Saturday so that I can get back to 100% for Millville, which is where I’ve now decided I’d like to finish out my career with the team. A massive thank you to everyone at Star Yamaha for their support and belief in me, and all of the people out there who have been supporting me. It’s been a privilege to ride under the truck, and as a lifelong fan of this sport, I’m excited to continue supporting the Star Yamaha team.”
