Simon Längenfelder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) will line up at the second round of the ADAC MX Masters in Dreetz on May 9–10, where he will make his first-ever race appearance on a 450cc machine.

The FIM Motocross World Championship has entered a lengthy break until the end of May, leaving several weekends filled with national events, likely featuring a stronger-than-usual presence of GP riders. In this context, Längenfelder’s decision—current MX2 World Champion and championship leader—to step up to the 450 class comes as a notable move.

“After the GP in Arco last weekend, we now have a break of more than a month in the World Championship. During this time, I want to keep racing to maintain my rhythm, and Dreetz fits perfectly. I’ll also take the opportunity to race a 450cc bike for the first time.”

Last year, Längenfelder already competed in Tensfeld on a 250 against 450 riders, finishing an impressive second overall with 5-2-2 moto scores. Now, on equal machinery, he is aiming to fight for the win.

“The experienced riders in the Masters class know the track well from previous years. Of course, I want to try and win in Dreetz, but I also know it’s my first race on a 450cc, so I need to take it step by step and the others are very strong. The battle between Max Nagl and Roan van de Moosdijk in the second race at Grevenbroich showed just how good they are. I’m curious to see how I get on with the 450cc. I haven’t ridden it much yet—just a few days, and with my 250cc setup. I’m really looking forward to taking my first race steps with the bigger bike and gaining experience.”
