The International of Sommières in France hosted one of the final major pre-season races, attracting an impressive line-up of international talent.

Among the headline names in the premier class are Tom Vialle, Kay de Wolf, Lucas Coenen, Maxime Renaux, Jeremy Seewer, Calvin Vlaanderen, Pauls Jonass, and Thibault Benistant, and more. The MX2 field is equally strong, featuring riders such as Mathis Valin, Kārlis Reisulis, and Sacha Coenen, among others.

The race format consisted of two motos per class, followed by a Superfinal that brings together MX1 and MX2 riders on track.

HIGHLIGHTS

MX1: TOM VIALLE WINS THE OVERALL

In Race 1, Lucas Coenen grabbed the holeshot and immediately set the tone, leading from the opening lap and steadily increasing his advantage with each circulation. The Belgian controlled the pace up front and never looked threatened on his way to a dominant victory.

Behind him, Maxime Renaux delivered a strong and consistent ride to secure second place, while Tom Vialle completed the podium in third after managing the pressure from the chasing pack.

Further back, Kay de Wolf mounted an impressive recovery, charging through the field to reach 15th position. However, his charge came to an end when he was forced to retire with just two laps remaining.

Tom Vialle controlled the second MX1 moto from the front, building a comfortable margin over Maxime Renaux and never relinquishing the lead. His 3-1 scorecard handed him the overall victory for the day.

Renaux followed with a consistent 2-2 result, which placed him third overall. The runner-up spot on the podium went to Lucas Coenen, who produced one of the rides of the race — charging from outside the top 10 to finish third in the moto. His 1-3 tally secured second overall.

Pauls Jonass was again in the mix during the early stages, battling inside the leading group before ultimately settling for fourth place. Calvin Vlaanderen rebounded from earlier setbacks to claim fifth.

Meanwhile, Kay de Wolf opted to sit out Race 2 following his crash in the opening moto.

MX2: MATHIS VALIN WINS THE OVERALL

In Race 1, Janis Reisulis delivered a composed performance to secure the Race 1 victory, successfully holding off sustained pressure from Mathis Valin throughout the moto.

His brother, Karlis Reisulis, initially ran second but an early mistake dropped him back to seventh.

Spaniard Francisco García produced one of the standout moments of the opening lap, charging from eighth to third in a matter of corners. However, his momentum was spoiled by a crash that sent him nearly to the back of the field. He remounted and continued, eventually finishing 22nd.

Capitalizing on the incidents ahead, Mano Faure kept things consistent and inherited third place to complete the podium in Race 1.

Race 2 and Mathis Valin grabbed the holeshot and never looked back, delivering a convincing wire-to-wire victory.

This time, Francisco García got off to a much stronger start, running around fourth in the opening laps before quickly making decisive passes to move into second place, where he would ultimately finish.

Julius Mikula put together a solid ride to secure third, while Race 1 winner Jānis Reisulis battled hard throughout the moto to claim fourth at the checkered flag.

In the overall classification, Valin took the win with a 2-1 scorecard. Reisulis secured second overall via 1-4, and Mikula’s consistent 5-3 finishes earned him the third step of the podium.

SUPERFINAL MX1 vs MX2

The final race of the day went to Thibault Benistant, who led from the holeshot to the checkered flag. Despite controlling the race at the front, he had to withstand sustained pressure from Tom Vialle, who crossed the line less than a second behind in a thrilling finish.

On the final lap, Lucas Coenen executed a decisive pass on Maxime Renaux to secure third place, reshuffling the podium positions in the closing moments.

In the MX2 ranks, Mathis Valin stood out as the top finisher with an impressive seventh overall against the MX1 machinery, while Francisco García was the second-best MX2 rider in tenth — a strong showing for both in mixed-class competition.
