The qualifying races in Almonte delivered high-impact shifts in both MXGP and MX2, with victories that not only set the tone for Sunday but also reshaped the championship picture at the top.
In MXGP, Lucas Coenen took control from the outset to secure his first qualifying race win of the season, capitalizing on a costly mistake from Jeffrey Herlings, who crashed at turn one and missed out on points. Just behind, Tom Vialle executed a composed ride to second place—enough to reclaim the red plate and move back into the championship lead. With Romain Febvre close in fourth, the standings tighten heading into race day: Vialle leads by four points over Febvre, with Coenen now firmly in the mix, seven points off the top.

MX2 followed a similar script of late-race intensity. Sacha Coenen emerged victorious after a decisive pass in the closing stages, while Camden McLellan charged through to second. Guillem Farrés secured third in a calculated ride that proves crucial for the championship: the Spaniard now sits just two points behind leader Simon Langenfelder, who limited the damage with a fourth-place finish to retain the red plate by the slimmest of margins.
With both categories seeing momentum swings and tightened gaps at the top, Sunday’s races are perfectly set up: new winners, pressure on the leaders, and championships that are wide open.
