The International of Pernes-les-Fontaines returns this Sunday, February 8, after a 20-year absence, and it does so in style with a star-studded entry list. Reigning MXGP World Champion Romain Febvre will headline the event, alongside 2025 runner-up Lucas Coenen and several other top-level world championship contenders.
For Febvre, this will mark his first race of the 2026 season, as it will for his Kawasaki teammates Pauls Jonass and Mathis Valin in MX2. Maxime Renaux is also set to make his season debut aboard the Monster Energy Yamaha.
Interestingly, the event will also feature Lucas and Sacha Coenen, who arrive fresh off victories at the opening round of the Internazionali d’Italia in Alghero. With the second Italian round taking place this same Sunday in Mantova, their absence from that event opens the door for other title contenders to capitalize.
The race format at Pernes-les-Fontaines will consist of three motos of 20 minutes plus two laps, with MX1 and MX2 riders sharing the same starting gate, promising a unique and highly competitive pre-season showdown.
