Defending WMX champion Nancy van de Ven broke both her fibula and tibia during the French Grand Prix on Saturday.
The reigning World Champion from the Netherlands came into contact with the Australian Charli Cannon during the first race, which resulted in a violent crash. van de Ven was most affected as she broke his fibula and tibia.
The first treatment took place in a hospital near Villars-sous-Écot. Then she was transported to the hospital in Herentals, Belgium, where she was under surgery. Back in 2017, Nancy sustained the same injury in Spain.
Her hopes to win back-to-back titles were spoiled in the first stages of the 2023 season after two DNF in the first moto of the Sardegna round and then in Switzerland. However, she showed some great glimpses of speed as she collected a pair of holeshots and two top-three positions, but no podiums.
We wish her a speedy recovery!
