MXGP of West Nusa Tenggard – Sunday report, results and highlights

Prado lombok 1 24

The FIM Motocross World Motocross Championship saw the first action of the Indonesian double header at the MXGP of West Nusa Tenggara in Lombok, Indonesia. Reigning champ Jorge Prado took an important victory for his title hopes, while in the MX2 class Kay de Wolf extends the points leads after a perfect weekend.

Riders will look forward to returning to Lombok for round 12 of the 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship next weekend on July 6-7.

In MXGP it was a great day for Red Bull GasGas Jorge Prado who grab his seventh GP win of the season via 1-2, and most importantly, he went to 34 points deficit out of the lead to 22 as Tim Gajser finished 4th overall after two crashes in the second race.

It was almost a perfect weekend for Jeffrey Herlings. The KTM Red Bull rider won two out of three motos through the weekend, winning the Saturday Qualifying Race for the first time this season and then the Sunday opening moto, but like Gajser, a crash in Race 2 put him in second place for 2nd overall.

Meanwhile, Yamaha´s Calvin Vlaanderen took his first podium of the season with a pair of 4th finishes for 3rd overall, edging Tim Gajser (3-5) and Kawasaki´s Jeremy Seewer (6-3).

In the MX2 class, championship leader Kay de Wolf returned to the podium’s top for the fourth time this season since round three in Portugal. He made it in big fashion winning the Saturday Qualifying Race and both motos on Sunday. Andrea Adamo (2-3) and de Wolf´s teammate Lucas Coenen (7-2) filled the podium.
