Red Plate holders Jorge Prado and Kay de Wolf extend the points lead as they won their respective qualifying races in the second round of the MXGP World Championship in Madrid, Spain. Both were unstoppable as Prado and de Wolf won by wire-to-wire performances. Prado is now 4 points up over Gajser, and de Wolf is now 7 points over Simon Langenfelder.
As for the WMX class, Spaniard Daniela Guillen hits first by winning the opening moto over Lotte Van Drunen and the current champ Courtney Duncan.
Prado took the holeshot on his Red Bull GasGas Factory Racing and led every lap until the checkered flag. Behind him, Tim Gajser rode on a solid second place, while Maxime Renaux did the same but under some pressure from Jeffrey Herlings who charged from behind passing Vlaanderen, Coldenhoff, and Seewer in the last stages to finish 4th over Coldenhoff and Seewer.
Valentin Guillod crashed early on but recovered in seventh place. On the other hand, Romain Febvre had a bad start and slowly got up to eight losing some points in the process. Now the Frenchman sits 3rd in the standings 10 points behind Prado. The top 10 were filled by Calvin Vlaanderen and Isak Gifting, credited with 2 and 1 points.
It was a similar story in the MX2 class. Neestan Husqvarna´s Kay de Wolf took the early lead and never looked back. Simon Langenfelder came 2nd. Making his return after a thumb injury, Liam Everts was impressive by getting 3rd over Lucas Coenen and Mikkel Haarup who came from behind and edged the current champ Andrea Adamo. From 7th to 10 were Rossi, S.Coenen, Benistant and Bonacorsi.
