Round three of the MXGP World Motocross Championship heads to the first sandy circuit of the year at Riola Sardo for the MXGP of Sardegna this weekend. Unfortunately, three local heroes, Alberto Forato, Mattia Guadagnini, and Ferruccio Zanchi, won´t be behind the gates due to injuries. Same situation for Spaniard Samuel Nilsson, Norwegian Hakon Fredriksen and Czech Julius Mikula. On the other hand, Roan van de Moosdijk will make his return.

Alberto Forato #303 | Ribs & Collpase Lung | OUT: The Standings Construct Honda went under surgery before the opening round in Argentina to fix a thumb injury. He tried to ride in Argentina but he had to pull out. He was set to make in Spain but a big crash suffered on Wednesday resulted in 8 broken ribs and a collapsed lung.
Mattia Guadagnini #101 | Shoulder blade | OUT: The Neestan Husqvarna rider broke his shoulder blade at the International of Sommieres in France, which cost him the trip to Argentina. It was expected to see him back for Riola but now the situation is unclear.
Ruben Fernandez #70 | ACL | OUT: Ruben Fernandez will not be on the gate for the third round of the 2024 MXGP World Championship and beyond, as he has not recovered from the leg injury sustained at the first round of the series
Roan van de Moosdijk #39 | Knee | IN: The Dutch rider suffered a knee injury during the preason race at Hawkstone Park. Then he parted ways with Fantic Factory Team, but now he has the opportunity to make his MXGP debut as a fill-in rider of Ruben Fernandez.
Samuel Nilsson #356 | Banged up | OUT: The Spanish rider was expected to make his debut in the MX2 class after he put all the pieces together to built his own program to compete in the GP rounds held in Europe. Unfortunately, a crash during the third round of the Spanish Motocross will pospost his home GP. The good news is he will come back for round 4 in Trentino.
Julius Mikula #451 | Shoulder blade | OUT: Unfortunately, Mikula has been forced to delay his MX2 debut after a broken shoulder blade at the International of Lierop on March 3rd. Maybe we can see him at round 4 in Trentino.
Ferruccio Zanchi #73 | Banged up | OUT: Unfortunately, Italian Ferruccio Zanchi won’t be making the trip to the island after suffering a crash in Croatia during the week.
Hakon Fredriksen #427 | Health issues | OUT: Fredriksen has been dealing with health problems that will put him sidelined for Riola. Fredriksen and the WZ racing team are doing everything they can to get back into the MXGP championship as quickly as possible.
