Moritz Ernecker Injury Update – EMX125 Title Fight Shakes Up

EMX125 championship leader Moritz Ernecker has suffered a major setback after breaking his tibia and fibula during the Junior Motocross World Championship qualifying session last weekend in Jinin, Czech Republic.

The KTM Factory Rookies rider arrived at the event as one of the favourites for the Junior World title and currently leads the EMX125 standings after winning four of the seven rounds held so far this season. However, his title hopes have been thrown into doubt following the injury sustained on Saturday, July 4.

The timing could hardly be worse, with the final stages of the championship approaching rapidly. The next two rounds will take place on consecutive weekends in Foxhill and Uddevalla before the season finale in Turkey on September 6.

Ernecker was already coming off a difficult round in Portugal, where his championship advantage was reduced from 48 to 19 points over teammate Ricardo Bauer. With Ernecker sidelined, the newly crowned Junior 125cc World Champion now emerges as the leading contender for the EMX125 title, while France’s Sleny Goyer remains in the hunt 29 points behind the Austrian.
