Max Anstie has achieved another significant milestone for the Fire Power Honda race team by claiming the championship lead with a privateer squad. Anstie’s consistent performances during these two past rounds have put him on top of the standin despite not winning a Main Event yet. This will be the first time that Anstie will carry the Red Plate in the AMA Supercross series.
Anstie was second in the opening round of the East Coast championship in Detroit. But in Arlington, he had to struggle from behind to get a solid sixth, which has been enough to get the Red Plate coupled with the inconsistent performance of his rivals between one round and the other. Now Anstie leads the series by 4 points over Pierce Brown.
“After an early race incident where I collided with another rider and damaged my bike, I had to fight my way back. While the overall result was frustrating, having the red plate going into Daytona is special. It’s a culmination of factors—the support around me, training at MTF, feeling settled, and the teamwork and momentum built in Australia. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone involved. Now, our focus is on maintaining consistency.”
