American rider Lux Turner had been enjoying a standout campaign in Down Under, winning the first three rounds of the Australian Supercross Championship and arriving in Melbourne with a 26-point lead in the SX2 standings. But a heavy crash during time practice at the AUSX OPEN brought his season to abrupt end.
Turner suffered a wrist fracture, fortunately one that did not require surgery, but it is still a season-ending injury.
The setback comes just after Turner signed with Toyota Redlands BarX Yamaha for the 2026 Monster Energy SMX World Championship. His next challenge is a race against the clock to be fully fit for the Supercross portion of SMX early next year.
With Turner sidelined, the SX2 title fight is now wide open. Ryder Kingsford (Yamaha) takes over the championship lead with a 12-point advantage over Alex Larwood (Honda) heading into the final round this Saturday, November 29 in Adelaide.
