This Sunday, April 26, Ponta Grossa will host the second round of the Brazilian MX1 Motocross Championship, the GP Brasil. Below, we take a look at the preview, schedule, and current standings.
In MX1, all eyes will once again be on Glenn Coldenhoff (Yamaha C6 Bank IMS), though this time from a different perspective. The Dutch rider’s debut fell short of expectations, as he finished eighth at Canelinha, sparking speculation about his performance. Ponta Grossa now presents a key opportunity to dispel any doubts.
Meanwhile, Enzo Lopes (Honda Brasil) leads the MX2 standings after a solid 1-1 finish in the first round, followed by his teammate Jeremy Van Horebeek.
Other names to watch out for as they seek redemption include Greg Aranda (595 KTM Racing) and the Yamaha Geração trio of Fábio Santos, Paulo Alberto, and Vitor Borba.
In the MX2 class, Spaniard Salvador Perez (Yamaha Geração) holds the red plate after a perfect 1-1.
As usual, the race format will include three races: an individual race for MX1, another for MX2, and a combined MX1 + MX2 final, with separate scoring for each category.
