Kay Karssemakers to miss the MXGP of Argentina due to injury

Kay Karssemakers

Back in December, the Dutch rider was putting some laps on a 450cc in Berghem until the bike stopped in the air due to an electronic issue and ended up hitting soil on a hard way breaking his collarbone. He had surgery on January 3rd and recovered well as he started to train again on his Factory Fantic. However, a new crash two weeks ago resulted in a broken sternum which will put him sidelined for the opening round in Argentina.

“Unfortunately, I’ll miss the start of the GP MX2 in Argentina next weekend. After my broken collarbone in December I resumed training, but two weeks ago I had a another crash and suffered a fracture in my sternum. Another setback, but I will do everything I can to get back as soon as possible.” said Karssemakers on social media.

This is a big setback for Karssemakes who last year finished second in the EMX250 class. He now joins a list of riders ruled out for Argentina such as Mattia Guadagnini (shoulder) and Liam Everts (thumb).

On the other hand, Kay´s teammate David Braceras will be the only Fantic Factory rider in the MX2. The Spaniard has recently cameback from a back injury.
