Kay de Wolf will return to MXGP World Championship competition this weekend at the MXGP of the Czech Republic in Loket.
The Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing rider has been sidelined since suffering an ankle injury during the timed practice session at the MXGP of Italy in Montevarchi. The setback forced him to miss the following three rounds in Portugal, South Africa, and most recently at Foxhill in Great Britain.
Over the past few weeks, De Wolf has been back on the bike, gradually increasing the intensity of his preparations, and those efforts have now paid off with confirmation that he will line up behind the gate in Loket.
The Czech Grand Prix will provide De Wolf with a valuable opportunity to regain race fitness and intensity before the championship heads to the demanding sands of Lommel, where he will undoubtedly be aiming to challenge for another podium finish.
De Wolf’s rookie MXGP campaign has been a season of highs and lows. He was unable to contest the opening round in Argentina due to a thumb injury, before the ankle injury sustained in Montevarchi dealt another blow to his season. Despite those setbacks, the Dutchman has still managed to secure two overall podium finishes, taking third place in Riola Sardo and second place in Latvia.
