The Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha rider reveals on social media that he suffered a wrist and thumb injury due to a practice crash last week. He will miss the next round at Red Bud, but the plan is back before the season end.

“Well, not the news I am wanting to share today. I had a crash while practicing last week that resulted in a wrist sprain and an injury to my UCL in my thumb. One of my main goals for this outdoor season was to be there for every single moto, so this is a big disappointment. Not exactly sure the timetable to be back on the bike at this time, but I will definitely be missing the next few rounds of the AMA Pro Motocross. The goal at this point is to be back to 100% for the SuperMotocross Play-off races and make a run at that. Thanks Star Racing for having my back! We will be back soon.”

In his first year with the team, Smith ended up fourth in the 250SX East Coast standings. He is currently eleven in the 250MX standings with a season-best seventh place at High Point as his best result so far.

Unfortunately, Smith joins Guillem Farres (Humerus) and Justin Cooper (banged up) in the list of Star Racing injured riders.
