Jeffrey Herlings and Tommy Searle took the overalls at the second round of the ACU British Championship in Preston Docks.
Jeffrey Herlings made an immediate impact on his first ACU British appearance of 2026, securing a dominant 1-1 overall at Preston Docks. Despite the clean sweep, the Dutchman was pushed hard throughout the day, particularly in race one.
Oriol Oliver emerged as one of the standout performers, charging from the back and even leading early stages of the opening moto. He held firm under pressure before being overtaken, ultimately finishing third.
Conrad Mewse also impressed with strong comeback rides, finishing second overall (2-2) and applying late pressure on Herlings in race one, though without finding a way through.
In the second moto, Herlings executed a perfect start and controlled the race from the front, avoiding any direct battles and pulling clear of the field. Mewse once again secured second, but this time at a distance.
Ben Watson claimed the final podium spot with a 4-3 scorecard, narrowly beating Oliver (3-4) in the tie-breaker after a close fight between the two.
Now Watson and Oliver are tied for the lead, both with 85 points, as Mewse sits third with 82.

MX2: Searle Strikes Back in Style
Tommy Searle bounced back from a difficult start to the season with a statement performance at Preston Docks, securing the overall win with a 3-1 scorecard. The reigning champion delivered when it mattered most, climbing to third in the standings and closing the gap to just 12 points from the top.
Charlie Heymann emerged as the new red plate holder after finishing second overall (1-4). Despite missing out on the overall victory, his consistency was enough to move into the championship lead.
Joe Brookes secured third overall with a solid 4-2 performance, showing strong race pace across both motos.
Meanwhile, Gyan Doensen, winner of the opening round, missed out on the podium this time. Even so, he remains firmly in contention, dropping to second in the standings and sitting just 6 points behind Heymann.
With three different riders inside a narrow points margin, the MX2 title fight is quickly shaping into a highly competitive battle heading into the next rounds.
