Jeffrey Herlings wins in Lyng – 2024 ACU British Round 1

The Bullet was at the first round of the 2024 ACU British Championship, in Lyng. The KTM Red Bull rider took the second moto with a dominant performance in order to claim the overall. Meanwhile, in the MX2 class, Gabriel SS24 KTM Cas Valk did the same as a second moto win gave the overall.

In the first MX1 race, reigning champ Conrad Mewse took the holeshot and kept Jeffrey Herlings at bay every lap. Herlings put some fastest laps at the end but it wasn´t enough to beat the Crendon Tru7 Honda rider. However, in Race 2, Herlings took the early lead and never looked back as he won by a 47-second margin over Mewse. GabrielSS24 KTM Josh Gilbert rounded the podium with a 4-3.

American Jack Chambers from Dixon Kawasaki, started the season with a race win over Cas Valk and veteran Tommy Searle. Positions 1-2 flipped in moto 2 as Cas Valk took the early lead and then pulled away from the rest of the pack in order to take the overall via 2-1. Chambers charged to third and Joel Rizzi, sixth in the first moto, bounced back with a second place. However, the last podium spot went to Tommy Searle with a 3-4.

Next round of the ACU British Championship will take place in Canada Heights on May 28th.
