The EMX125 champion from last year picked up a knee injury after the EMX250 opening round in Spain.
Janis was 4th on his EMX250 debut with a strong 6-4 in motos. Unfortunately in the week previous to Round 2 in Trentino he got injured. The Latvian rider has been sidelined since then, but now we know more details about the injury, and unfortunately, he will be out for the rest of the season.
“Lately, many motorsport fans have been asking where Jānis Reišulis has disappeared to, when we will be able to see him again on the track. To dispel all kinds of rumours, we would like to inform you that last week in France, in the orthopedic clinic of Lyon, Jānis underwent knee cruciate ligament surgery. Tomorrow he returns to Latvia and will start a rehabilitation course .This season is over for Jānis. He could get back on the bike in October and then start preparing for the next season. Jānis says thank you very much to everyone for the well wishes”.
With Janis out, the Yamaha VRT Team now focuses on Ivano Van Erp and Karlis Reisulis. Van Erp sits 4th in the standings after a podium in Spain, while Karlis is 9th in his rookie season with a pair of 2nd places in motos but without podiums so far.
