Tim Gajser will not take part in the second round of the Italian Pro Prestige Motocross Championship, set to be held this Sunday, May 3, in Maggiora. The Slovenian’s appearance had been widely expected in recent days and seemed almost certain. However, following his heavy crash in the second moto at Riola Sardo, Gajser sustained fractured ribs.
Despite the injury, the five-time World Champion showed remarkable determination by lining up for the Trentino round, where he went on to win his first moto as a Monster Energy Yamaha rider. After such an intense stretch, the sensible decision is now to avoid unnecessary risks and allow himself a few days of recovery before the FIM Motocross World Championship resumes at the end of May.
Maggiora therefore loses one of the most anticipated names of the weekend. On the other hand, the event will still feature Andrea Adamo (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing).

As for the current championship standings, both categories are still based on the sole moto completed at Ottobiano, after the second motos were cancelled due to severe track conditions caused by heavy rainfall. Alessandro Lupino (Ducati) emerged from the opener with an early advantage, while two of his main rivals — Mattia Guadagnini (Van Venrooy KTM) and Jan Pancar (TEM JP253 KTM) — start outside the points after failing to finish the race. For them, Maggiora will effectively serve as their true starting point for the season as they aim to recover as many positions as possible.
In MX2, Valerio Lata (Honda HRC) arrives as the rider to beat after dominating the only moto contested at Ottobiano.
