Jeffrey Herlings and Kay de Wolf swept the 2024 International of Lierop, the last preseason race before the MXGP kick-off next week in Villa La Angostura, Argentina.

In the first 500cc moto, Herlings grabbed the holeshot and pulled away from the rest of the pack en route to a wire-to-wire win. Brent Van Doninck rode the entire race in a solid second place, and Calvin Vlaanderen went third. Geerts made a mistake early on while battling for second against Van Doninck and recovered in 6th behind German duo Henry Jacobi and Max Nagl.

The second 500cc race saw a great comeback from Herlings. Geerts led over 15 seconds but with four laps to go, Herlings lived up to its nickname “The Bullet” as caught the Yamaha rider to get a perfect 1-1 win. Calvin Vlaanderen landed on the second step of the podium via 3-2 and Geerts got 3rd overall (6-2).

De Wolf stormed through the first 250cc race, lapping almost the entire field as he overtook Hakon Osterhagen, who finished sixth. Cas Valk of Gabriel SS24 finished 2nd while Hakon Fredriksen from WZ Racing KTM ended up third after making a huge charge from behind. EMX250 riders Nico Greutman and Nicolai Skobjerg rounded the Top 5.

Both Coenen brothers had some issues. Lucas while ridding 2nd before dropping to eight, while Sacha had a crash in the waves that ended on a DNF. Another rider to make a great comeback race was Quentin Prugnieres coming from 33rd to 9th.

Second moto was a similar story for Kay de Wolf but this time he was dealing with some pressure from Lucas Coenen early on, until he made a mistake that allowed de Wolf to pull away en route to another dominant win. Sacha Coenen came in third.

Meanwhile, Cas Valk and Hakon Fredriksen rounded the Top 5 which was enough to claim the 2nd and 3rd podium spots.
