Haarup Shines at Loretta Qualifier Ahead of AMA Pro Motocross Debut

Mikkel Haarup triumph 25

Last week, Triumph announced that Mikkel Haarup will replace the injured Jalek Swoll during the AMA Pro Motocross season, which begins on May 24 at Fox Raceway.

Haarup, who joined Triumph for its inaugural season in the FIM Motocross World Championship MX2 last year, hasn’t raced since last October, when he represented Denmark at the Motocross of Nations. The team wanted the Danish rider to get a few races under his belt to get back into race rhythm.

That process began last weekend at The Shoals, the training facility of off-road legend Stew Baylor, during the Loretta Lynn Area Qualifier.

Haarup competed in three classes, losing only one moto all weekend and taking overall victories in 250 Pro Sport, College 18-24, and Open Pro Sport.

250 Pro Sport:

1 Mikkel Haarup 1-1

2 Diesel Thomas 2-2

3 Collier Martinez 3-3

College 18 – 24

1 Mikkel Haarup 1-1

2 Ethan Stevenson 2-3

3 Peyton Crisp 4-2

Open Pro Sport

1 Mikkel Haarup 2-1

2 Disel Thomas 1-2

3 Cole Martinez 3-3
