The first round of the E-MX Junior class took place in Arroyomolinos

Romain Febvre suffered a concussion after a pile-up crash in the first turn of the Qualifying Race. He was out for Sunday races.
Maxime Renaux also suffered an injury during the Qualifying race, but it was even worst than Febvre. The Frenchman broke his foot and he is now out of title contention.

The big storyline of the weekend: Jeffrey Herlings beat Stefan Everts record of more GP wins
Red Plate soon? Herlings is now 6 points behind Prado.
Big podium return for Fernandez in front of his home crown. Fernandez was 5-2 for third overall
Mattia Guadagnini joined Herlings and Fernandez in what was his first-ever MXGP podium of his career in the main class. The Italian went 3-3 for second overall

Local hero Daniela Guillen got his third podium in a row in the WMX class, this time in front of his home crowd. She was third overall.

Simon Langenfelder went take his first overall of the season and the second of his career. Fun fact: His two victories came with 1-1 in motos.
TRIVIA ANSWER: The first-ever GP held in Spain was the first round of the 1962 250cc Championship in Sabadell, Barcelona.
