The SX Tour 2023 series opened its season this weekend at Clermont-Ferrand with a great first round where Josh Hill (SX1) and Maxime Desprey (SX2) were victorious. This year, the season will host seven rounds from June to December.
It was a special race due to both SX1 and SX2 classes were plenty of WSX riders that will be heading to Birmingham for the opening round in one week.
In the main category, Josh Hill took the win over Anthony Bourdon by a margin of 2 seconds. The American keep at bay the BUD Racing rider from the start to the finish line. Meanwhile, defending champion Cedric Soubeyras rode third.
Greg Aranda set the fastest in time qualifying early on and then won the heat, however, he came short of the podium with a fourth place over his GSM Yamaha teammate Thomas Ramette in fifth.
The SX2 class saw Maxime Desprey emerging with the victory on what was his return in the class. The GSM Yamaha rider was followed by Charles LeFrançois just as they did previously in the first heat. The podium was completed by reigning champion Yannis Irsuti. On the other hand, American Jace Owen was DNF after going with the pole position.
Round 2 will take place on July 15th at Saint-Thibéry.
