The new Ducati Desmo 450MX is already a real thing. Last weekend, March 16 & 17, they made their entry into the world of motocross officially with an outstanding debut in the first round of the Italian national championship in Mantua, where Alessandro Lupino won the first race before taking second place on the podium. From now on, we can only wait for the next projects of the Bolognese brand, which seems to be great for the industry.

Paolo Ciabatti (General Director of Ducati Corse offroad): In 2025 we will participate in the Italian Championship in the MX2 class. The work has already started. In the meantime, we continue to pursue the objectives already declared: continuing the development of the 450 Desmo through testing and participation in the MX1 Championship to arrive in MXGP in 2025 with the Maddii team, which will manage the bike. We also aim to take part in the US Supercross in 2026. As regards production, we will ensure that the 450 is available in dealerships between May and June of next year.

This means Ducati’s next steps in 2025 will be the debut in MXGP while starting the development of the 250cc model that will see the light in the Italian MX2 Championship. By 2026 the Desmo 450MX would land in the United States, ready to debut in AMA Supercross. That same year the 250cc model may debut in the World Motocross Grand Prix. Therefore, it will not be until 2027 that both models will gain a foothold in both categories of the major championships.
