Chase Sexton Part Ways with Monster Energy Kawasaki

Chase Sexton Salt Lake City 26

Monster Energy Kawasaki has confirmed the termination of its contract with Chase Sexton after just one season together. The American claimed two AMA Supercross victories aboard the factory Kawasaki, with his second win coming in the final round of the season in Salt Lake City. The result appeared to set the stage for a promising future with the team, but things have since taken a different turn.

Sexton’s AMA Pro Motocross campaign came to an early end after he suffered a knee injury in a heavy crash during the press day ahead of Round 4 at High Point. He has been recovering ever since, while speculation surrounding his future remained relatively quiet.

However, it appears that the relationship between Sexton and Kawasaki deteriorated during this period, ultimately leading both parties to agree to terminate their contract on October 9 — the same date Jorge Prado and Kawasaki parted ways one year earlier.

Monster Energy Kawasaki has yet to announce its 2027 rider lineup, although Malcolm Stewart’s arrival and Garrett Marchbanks’ contract renewal are already widely expected. As for Sexton, his next move has become one of the hottest topics heading into the offseason, with just over two months remaining before the 2027 AMA Supercross season kicks off in Anaheim on January 9.

What are Chase Sexton’s options for 2027?

Sexton’s destination for next season remains uncertain. His name has been linked to several teams, but the available options appear limited.

Ducati has been one of the most widely discussed possibilities. However, with RJ Hampshire already confirmed and Joey Savatgy reportedly training with the team at Sandbox, despite not yet being officially announced, a move to the Italian manufacturer seems less likely.

Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha also appears to be out of the picture. Surprisingly, though, some sources have not ruled out a potential return to Red Bull KTM, where Sexton could line up alongside Jorge Prado and Lucas Coenen.

That possibility becomes particularly interesting when considering rumors that Coenen could make his 250SX debut as an adaptation to Supercross before moving up to the premier class for AMA Pro Motocross. Such a scenario could leave room for Sexton to return to the KTM squad, although much remains uncertain at this stage.

With the 2027 season fast approaching, Sexton’s next move is shaping up to be one of the key storylines of the offseason. Whether he returns to a familiar manufacturer or takes on a new challenge, the former champion’s future remains one to watch.
