Unfortunately, so far things didn`t go as planned for South African rider Camden McLellan who has been sidelined since round one in Argentina due to a shoulder injury.
McLellan made the trip to Argentina in order to start his rookie season in the MX2 class under the JM Honda team. Nevertheless, he suffered a dislocated shoulder during the free practice session. From there, he was forced to be sidelined.
Finally, a press release on his website revealed that he is ready to take part in the World Championship this weekend in round seventh in Villars sous Ecot, France.
“After missing a third of the MXGP season, I’m glad to tell you all that I will be making my return to racing this weekend at the GP of France. After eight and a half weeks out, which was a little longer than originally planned, and doing extensive and intense rehab, I have had two weeks on the bike, and although that’s not a lot of time at all, I’ve immediately felt great on the bike and I have remained really fit throughout the whole recovery process due to the ongoing training and guidance from my trainer, Joel Roelants.
The recovery took a bit longer than expected due to a second surgery on the shoulder because of a very minor infection, and It’s been a long road to recovery, with many painful physio sessions and a lot of hard work to get the shoulder strong and flexible again, but I am very grateful for the team who have been patient and supported me the whole way through the process and am super excited to be back on the bike again and looking to get back to where I left off. With that being said this weekend will really be about me getting my feet wet, and getting a feel for where I stand and what to work on going forward, as I look to build momentum round after round to eventually be mixing it up near the front end of the pack by the end of the year”
