BREAKING: Sacha Coenen Cleared to Race at Foxhill

Sacha Coenen Montevarchi 26

Sacha Coenen’s hopes of defending his MX2 World Championship lead remain alive after the Belgian rider successfully passed the mandatory medical examination on Friday at Foxhill and received clearance from the FIM to compete in the British Grand Prix.

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider arrived in England with major question marks surrounding his participation following the dramatic crash he suffered during the second moto of the AMA Pro Motocross round at Southwick last weekend. Despite the incident, Coenen managed to remount and complete a perfect 1-1 sweep in the 250 class before later revealing that he believed he had broken his collarbone.

Medical examinations confirmed the injury, and Coenen underwent successful surgery in the United States on Monday, where a plate was fitted to stabilize the fractured collarbone. Since then, the Belgian has been racing against the clock in an effort to line up at Foxhill.

The first and most important hurdle came on Friday morning when Coenen faced the FIM medical checks. After receiving the green light from officials, the MX2 championship leader was finally able to begin his weekend on track.

The Belgian opened the Foxhill weekend by placing inside the top three during the MX2 free practice sessions, proving that he remains capable of fighting at the front even while recovering from injury.
