The 2026 AMA Supercross Championship heads to Arlington, Texas, this weekend for Round 7 at AT&T Stadium. The event also marks the opening round of the 250SX East Coast division, bringing a wave of major storylines including injury updates, long-awaited returns, and important new signings.
Here’s the latest news you need to know heading into Arlington:
Jo Shimoda Set for Comeback
One of the biggest headlines is the return of Jo Shimoda. The Honda HRC Progressive rider suffered a broken neck during the off-season and was initially expected to miss Supercross entirely. However, after a strong recovery from surgery, Shimoda is planning to line up for the 250SX East opener.

His return gives an immediate boost to the championship picture, especially as the reigning 250 SMX Champion looks to reestablish himself as a title contender.
Prado & Cochran Sidelined
While Shimoda returns, others remain on the sidelines.
Jorge Prado will miss Arlington as he continues recovering from a heavy crash in Seattle qualifying. Although no major structural damage was found in his right shoulder, excessive swelling and irritation have forced the four-time world champion to take time off. The goal is a return at Daytona on February 28.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Case Cochran has been delayed in starting his 2026 campaign after crashing during training at the Baker’s Factory. The Husqvarna rider’s return timeline has not yet been confirmed.
Jordon Smith Makes 450SX Debut
A major milestone awaits Jordon Smith, who will make his long-anticipated 450SX debut with Triumph. After recovering from off-season shoulder surgery, Smith has logged significant testing time on the TF 450-X and now steps into the premier class for the first time in his career.

The multi-time 250SX Main Event winner says his immediate focus is learning the class, racing smart, and building into the season as he adapts to the 450 division.
Caden Dudney Turns Pro
Another debut comes from Caden Dudney, who will make his professional Supercross debut with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing. The 16-year-old Texas native gets to begin his pro career in front of a home-state crowd in Arlington, lining up alongside teammates Nate Thrasher, Cole Davies, and Pierce Brown in the 250SX East class.

Luke Clout Joins PRMX Kawasaki
Adding international depth to the field, Australian standout Luke Clout has signed with PRMX Kawasaki for the 250SX East Coast season. A multi-time Australian Supercross and Motocross champion, Clout returns to U.S. competition for the first time since 2020, when he earned a career-best top-five finish in Oakland.
With proven front-running speed and global experience, Clout could quickly become a factor in the East Coast championship fight.
