After a weekend off, the 2026 AMA Supercross season is back in action, heading into Birmingham for one of the most anticipated rounds of the year. This weekend marks the first East/West Showdown, bringing both 250SX divisions together on the same gate.
In the West, Haiden Deegan has been the standout name, winning five of the six rounds so far and building a commanding 35-point lead. However, injuries have taken a toll on the field, sidelining contenders like Cameron McAdoo and Michael Mosiman.
Over on the East Coast, the championship couldn’t be tighter. Just two points separate four riders, with Cole Davies coming in with momentum after sweeping the Indianapolis Triple Crown and taking over the red plate. Right behind him are Seth Hammaker, Pierce Brown, and Jo Shimoda, all firmly in the title fight.

In the premier 450SX class, the spotlight remains on Hunter Lawrence and Eli Tomac, who are separated by just a handful of points. While Cooper Webb and Ken Roczen have slipped to more than 20 points back, they’re still within striking distance with plenty of racing left.
The 450 field, though, has also been hit by injuries:
- Dylan Ferrandis has returned to practice, but lingering hand weakness means he won’t be able to race safely this weekend.
- Joey Savatgy suffered a medial cuneiform fracture in his foot at Indianapolis. He attempted to ride on Thursday, but the injury hasn’t healed enough for competition.
- Chase Sexton is back on the bike after his crash before Daytona, but ongoing pain in his lower back and hip will keep him out of Birmingham.

On the positive side, there are a couple of notable additions to the lineup. Nick Romano will step in for Drew Adams at Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki, while Justin Bogle makes his return to Supercross competition for the first time since 2022, joining HEP Suzuki as a replacement for Jason Anderson.
