The first major injury from a factory rider has been confirmed for the opening round of the MXGP World Championship, which will take place on March 9 & 10 in Villa La Angostura, Argentina.
The KTM Red Bull rider suffered a thumb injury in a small crash while training Yesterday in Grevenboirch, Germany. At first, it seemed to be a sprain, but it’s worse than we expected. The doctor in the hospital of Herentals discovered a fracture and Liam had to undergo surgery this afternoon. He will miss the first MXGP of the season (Argentina) because of this. After an almost perfect winter preparation, this comes as a serious disappointment.
This means a big blow up for Liam and his team. The Belgian showed his speed this preseason after winning the International of Mantova in Italy and then battling at front in Sommiéres, France.
