The Monster Energy Yamaha rider has decided to not take part of the Sunday motos at the MXGP of Lommel, round 14th of the FIM MXGP World Championship. Geerts return didn´t go as planned on his home GP. Yesterday, he finished 23rd in Time Practice and 19th in the Qualifying Race. Such results made him decide not to compete today.
“After yesterday’s qualifying race, I have taken some time to analyse what I have to work on for my comeback in MXGP. Physically I’m not ready at all to compete at the highest level. That is the reason why I have decided not to start in the MXGP of Flanders in Lommel today. It is a decision I had to take with pain in my heart, but it is for my own safety. It is the best decision at this moment for my further career. Thanks to everyone for all your positive reactions when I announced my comeback. You will have to miss me today but I will make it up with you later with performances on the track.”
