The Yamaha Racing Brasil rider extended his winning streak to eight consecutive moto victories, taking the title fight down to the final round.
Glenn Coldenhoff dominated the double-header weekend in Santa Cruz do Capibaribe, Pernambuco, claiming victory in all four motos contested between Friday, August 1, and Sunday, August 3. The Yamaha C6 Bank IMS rider significantly reduced the gap to the MX1 championship leader and heads into the season finale in September just six points adrift.
After securing the overall win in Round 7 on Friday with a commanding performance, Coldenhoff returned to the track on Sunday determined to repeat the feat—and did exactly that. The Dutchman controlled the action throughout the weekend, extending his remarkable run of victories and putting himself firmly back in championship contention.
With four wins from four starts in Santa Cruz, Coldenhoff remains second in the MX1 standings but has cut Enzo Lopes’ advantage to just six points. The Honda Brasil rider finished runner-up on both race days.
«I started improving in Palmas, and since then I’ve won every moto. I’m really happy with today,» said Coldenhoff. «The conditions were very difficult with the sun—it was hard to see anything—so I just kept pushing. I wanted to increase the pace but also stay safe. I know it was a dominant performance here in Santa Cruz.
«I’d like to thank my trainer, who has helped keep me fit for more than 12 years. He’s going through a very difficult time right now, so I want to wish him strength. Things will get better.»
