Race Results: British Motocross | Round 1 Hawkstone Park

The iconic track of Hawkstone Park hosted the opening round of the ACU British Motocross Championship, where Ben Watson claimed the overall victory in the MX1 class on his return to the series. Watson secured the win thanks to a strong comeback ride to second in race one and a commanding victory in race two. Oriol Oliver finished second overall after winning the opening moto, while reigning champion Conrad Mewse completed the podium.

In the first moto, Adam Sterry grabbed the early lead and opened a small gap, but Oliver quickly closed in and made a decisive pass to take control of the race. The GabrielSS24 KTM rider managed the difficult, rain-affected conditions to take the win. Watson charged through the field from the back of the pack to finish second, followed by Taylor Hammal, with Mewse recovering from a poor start to finish fourth. Sterry eventually dropped to fifth.

Watson took the holeshot in the second moto and led from start to finish to seal the overall victory. Oliver ran second throughout but suffered a heavy crash that forced him to continue without the seat on his bike, though he still held on to second place at the finish to secure the same position overall. Mewse again finished third, both in the race and in the final standings.

In MX2, Gyan Doensen emerged as the overall winner after a chaotic day in the class. The GabrielSS24 KTM rider posted a 4-1 scorecard to take the victory ahead of Charli Heyman (3-3), while Joel Rizzi completed the podium with consistent 5-5 finishes.

Rookie Jamie Keith impressed by winning the opening moto in his class debut ahead of Ollie Colmer, but both riders encountered problems in race two that dropped them outside the top ten overall. Meanwhile, defending champion Tommy Searle endured a difficult start to the season, finishing the day with a 7-11 score.
